Robert Tessier was admitted to the California bar in 1986 and has been a mediator since 1994.  He has successfully mediated nearly 4,000 litigated disputes in the areas of personal injury, product liability, professional negligence, real estate, business and partnership disputes, trust and estates, and Fair Debt Collection matters. He has earned the respect of his peers through an AV rating for professionalism and integrity in his practice. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, a Super Lawyer since 2014, and has had the multi-year honor of being named one of the Los Angeles Daily Journal Top 50 Neutrals for the State of California.

Bob is a lifelong resident of Los Angeles. He attended Loyola Marymount University, earning a B.A. degree in 1983. He earned his law degree in 1986 from Pepperdine University, School of Law, with honors. While there he served on Law Review, was published in the Pepperdine Law Review in the area of good faith settlements, earned a place on the Dean's List every year, and won awards for academic excellence and legal writing. While in Law School, he was employed with a law firm specializing in Writs and Appeals. He graduated in the top five percent of his class, and was admitted to practice December 1986. He has returned to the Straus Institute, at Pepperdine, to continue his professional education in the area of dispute resolution. He has completed Straus Institute courses in Mediating the Complex Case, Law, Faith and Peacemaking, and Mediating Conflict in a Global Society.

His personal life involves his love of music, having trained as a musician throughout school and as a young adult. This background and experience assists him in evaluating and mediating claims involving intellectual property related to music and musicians. He also has a love of classic cars, and before becoming a lawyer he worked in the field of automobile repair and restoration. This experience is often invaluable in the cases he mediates whether they involve accident reconstruction, product defects, or Lemon Law.

Mr. Tessier has also developed expertise helping businesses, large and small, resolve disputes through mediation and mediation consulting. In many such situations, a desire to preserve an ongoing relationship allows for creativity in the process and outcome. Moreover, cross-cultural disputes have become common in the multi-cultural business environment of Southern California. Resolution of these disputes requires a respect for, and sensitivity to, the differences and similarities that different cultures bring to the bargaining table. In the last few years, he has presented to his peers at conferences around the world, including Iceland and New Zealand.
